In response to a member's email to Ken Ivory, American Lands Council and lawmaker in Nevada:
We are highly aware of the situation at Bundy's ranch and have spoken directly with Clivon several times, as well as some members of his family. Since the incident, Ken (as the president of the ALC) and Demar Dahl (Chairman of the ALC) have been on multiple radio and television shows (see the Dana Loesch show this afternoon) discussing the issue and helping people to understand that if the federal government had simply kept its promise to ALL of the states and not just those east of Colorado, the Bundy's...and thousands of others like them...would not be put in the very difficult situation that they are in.
Every day we deal with story after story of how the decisions of a few in Washington are negatively impacting the economy, education and public lands of those of us in the west and we are 100% dedicated to compelling Congress to honor its promise to transfer the title of public lands to all willing western states. The more local the control lies, the more power individuals have to determine their own destiny.
Even as I type, the American Lands Council is busy hosting a legislative summit of state representatives from around the nation who are coming together to coordinate our legislation to bring about the fulfillment of our enabling act promises, in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of our citizens. Just 20 feet from me are 3 House Speakers, several Majority Caucus leaders, Attorneys General, many senators and representatives, as well as county commissioners that we have brought together from all over the west (and even some from the East), all working to change the "big picture" to benefit all of our citizens.
While we can't be on the ground in every situation that happens, we are continuing to work vigorously to restore the local control that our founders intended.
I hope you will continue to view and share our information at www.AmericanLandsCouncil.org as there is a wealth of information there to help people weed through the massive amounts of media attention (some accurate...some not so much...) that is out there. (Keep in mind that our website is undergoing some serious construction, so if you run into any problems, let me know.)
Thank you again for your question. Please don't hesitate to let me know how I can be of assistance.
Becky Ivory
