“Either give us our land or give us our PILT”* is a quote being attributed to U. S. Representative from AZ Paul Gosar in a recent article by the Arizona Daily Independent. This is in connection with a letter to Speaker John Boehner signed by Rep. Gosar along with other 40 congressmen.
We have a huge problem in the west regarding land use and ownership. In most western states, the vast majority of the land is owned by, and therefore is under the care, custody and control of the federal government. The problem is that the federal government does not care, cannot afford custody, and has lost control to radical groups.
The ultimate solution is a transfer of land ownership and control from the federal government to the states, which would put the western states on a more equal footing with the rest of the nation. One important component in the battle for such transfer is gaining the support of the American people. A giant step in that direction would be the distribution of this information to a wide variety of folks, especially those who are not part of our usual network and are therefore either uninformed or ill informed.
