Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. ~2 Timothy 3:5
OVERRIDE FACTS
Posted: 2013-10-21
Debbie Hall Belnap The problem with these district overrides is that school districts stoop to misrepresenting facts to get people's sympathies. A few of their favorite misrepresentations: 1. FALSE: The State has cut funding to schools this year. FACT: Our State legislators added 80 MILLION dollars to k-12 funding this year. And have added over 220 Million dollars in funding over the past few years. FALSE: Charter schools get more money than district schools. FACT: Overall District schools get about $1800 PER student more than charter schools. FALSE: AZ is 49th in funding of schools in the nation. FACT AZ is right smack in the middle of all the states for funding. My source for this information....Our very own state legislators, Warren Petersen for AZ House of Representatives, Eddie Farnsworth and Senator Andy Biggs. You should know that this override will more than likely not help teachers or your child's education in any noticeable way. School Admistrators make sure they have sweet retirement and health packages which these overrides will help to maintain since these overrides have NO specific uses. It is just a request for more money to do whatever they want with it. Last year the override funding went down by 1/3 and the district did just fine. This override is a property tax increase that you will probably see NO benefit from. I am for Schools, teachers, kids and the truth - that is why I vote NO on this override.
