OVERRIDES - A Note From The Editor

          The first rule of economics is that there are no solutions - only tradeoffs. If we had an infinite amout of money and resources then we could alot as much money and resources to our schools as they demand. In reality, whatever money is used for education means those monies can't be used for other things. And, many of those things are to benefit children like clothing, shelter, food, entertainment, health care, family vacations and so forth. Also, money that is taken away from families in the form of taxes will put a certain level of stress on that family which can lead to greater social issues like substance abuse, spousal abuse, bankruptcy, divorce, and so on. All of these things impact children directly. So, if you want to think of the children you must demand accountability from school districts in how they spend money on education.
    Therefor there is a moral imperative for school districts to use monies wisely when and wherever they are used. When and until school districts will offer a full, comprehensive and transparent accounting of monies spent in a form that the average voter can understand, then no overrides should be allowed. The burden of proof is upon the administration.
