Hold Your Elected Officials Accountable
The race for Arizona's next governor is underway. To help decide who you will vote for, we are bringing as many of the candidates as possible to speak at these Tuesdaynight events. This week, we are happy to hear from Al Melvin. Arizona Senator Al Melvin has been committed to serving the people of Southern Arizona. As an educator, businessman, and veteran, he has been committed to bringing vision, integrity, and leadership to the Arizona State Senate and now wants to continue to serve Arizona as governor. After Senator Melvin addresses the attendees, Shane Krauser will discuss how we can and need to hold our representatives accountable. Becoming an educated voter is just half the battle. Once we elect someone, how do we hold these people accountable? As a country, we have failed to do this in the past, and we cannot continue to do the same things we have done before and expect a different result. It is time to keep tabs on our representatives and continually remind them who they work for and remind them they have taken an oath to uphold and defend our Constitution. Shane will wrap things up by 8:00 p.m. so if you belong to a group that would like to take the remaining half hour to meet on your own at the school we encourage you to do so. Please remember to bring young family members! Thanks to Constitution in the Classroom and the American Academy, we have a safe and fun environment for your children to also learn about our founders and the Constitution. Constitution in the Classroom has a great group of instructors that go into classrooms during the school year to teach the Constitution to our youth in a fun, engaging way. If your children are aged 6 on up, they are more than welcome. It is never too early to learn about the making of America and just how exceptional she is! Future Tuesday meetings include an evening on the Declaration of Independence (7/01), a debate between congressional candidates Wendy Rogers and Andrew Walter (7/08), a Second Amendment discussion (7/15), and states' rights with the Bundy family (7/22). To finish off the month of July, we will have a more fun, relaxing evening (7/29). July is looking to be a great month.
