24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. ~Luke 9:24

More U.S. Cities Are Banning Feeding the Homeless

Posted: 2014-10-23

Cities around the country passing laws that forbid neighbors from helping neighbors. The Belief is that if you have charity in your heart then you must be creating a homeless problem. The belief is that only the government has the ability to help people in need and that the average citizen is incapable of helping the poor.

“…since Jan. 2013, twenty-one cities have restricted or flat-out banned feeding the homeless at all—and 10 municipalities have similar ordinances in the works.”

“At the heart of the bans and restrictions, write the authors, is the misguided belief that feeding people who are sleeping on the streets or in shelters encourages homelessness. Apparently, some of our nation’s politicians and policy makers are convinced that thousands of Americans are so eager for a free bowl from a soup kitchen that they’ll quit their jobs and begin sleeping in doorways and on bus benches to get it.

According to the report, a consultant on homelessness named Robert Marbut visited more than 60 communities in 2013 and 2014, giving talks about how dishing out hot meals to homeless people enables them to remain homelessness.”

Never mind the fact that the Bible requires us to help the poor:

Leviticus 23:22 KJV

And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest , neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 15:7 KJV

If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

Deuteronomy 15:11 KJV

For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying , Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

The truth of the matter is that these governments wish to gain power and money by pretending to care about the poor in the same way Judas held the money bag:

John 13:29 KJV

For some of them thought , because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

John 12:6 KJV

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein .

Beware of devils in government clothing
