Update 1-31-16: FBI Occupation of Burns, ORPosted: 2016-01-31 EVNN 1-31-16 Information gathered from various media sources give some indication on the situation in Burns at this time. Numerous reports have come from several sources that Federal agents are fairly terrorizing ranchers in the area; including those who run private ranches that do not have any contracts with the BLM. At least 5 “Bearcat” vehicles with machine gun turrets [correction: law enforcement versions may have a roof hatch instead of a turret] are deployed throughout the area, turning the countryside into a militarized zone. But what exactly is the threat at this time? There are 4 young adults left at the Harney County Resource Center (Malheur Wildlife Refuge) who are self described “lost Indians”; left behind in the panic that followed LaVoy’s murder. The Occupiers left without even packing a thing; clothes, personal belongings, firearms; everything. These 4 unfortunate souls thought that they were going to be invaded at any moment and were preparing defenses. When they realized they were the only ones left it became clear that they were trapped. So, the Federal assets in place are there to “take down” these hapless kids? Apparently not entirely. Other reports, though not independently verified, indicate Federal agents going door to door rounding up anyone evenly remotely connected to the Occupiers. It is a dragnet that many militia members have feared would take place which is one reason why most militia groups stayed away from the Occupation altogether. On Saturday evening, a protest against the FBI presence consisted of a parade of between 50 and 60 vehicles which drove through Burns circling the courthouse several times. Most of the vehicles had Oregon license plates while a small number had Idaho plates. The occupants of those vehicles were protesting the presence of the FBI and their support teams. There were a handful of pro-FBI protesters on the street shouting “go home” with the reply coming back “we are home” dispelling the myth that all of the problems in Burns are created by outsiders; but it is partially true that outsiders are stirring up trouble. Clearly the FBI are the biggest contingent of outsiders there at this time. It has been estimated that as many as 500 federal vehicles are in Burns and the surrounding area to resolve the situation there. Contrary to popular belief , Burns is not united in how things should be handled. The town is roughly divided into 2 camps: Employees of the Federal government, and their cronies; and the ranchers and their families, friends and supporters. Another protest is scheduled for Monday February 1. The Pacific Patriot Network is calling for everyone within a 6 hour driving radius to come and protest the Occupation of the FBI. It does seem clear that the ones who came to “relieve” Burns of Occupiers have now become Occupiers themselves.
